Acting on TrackBacks
From the Manage TrackBacks screen you can act on TrackBacks, including publishing TrackBacks to your blog, unpublishing TrackBacks from your blog, marking TrackBacks as spam, or deleting TrackBacks entirely.
Publishing TrackBacks
Publishing TrackBacks is the act of making a moderated TrackBack appear on your blog. To publish TrackBacks:
- In the TrackBacks listing table, select the TrackBack or TrackBacks you would like to publish by checking the box next to each of the desired TrackBacks. Unpublished TrackBacks are identified by the yellow triangle symbol.
- Click the Publish button located in the action bar above the TrackBacks Listing table. This automatically publishes the selected TrackBack to your blog. Successfully published TrackBacks are identified by the green checkmark symbol.
Unpublishing TrackBacks
Unpublishing TrackBacks is the act of removing a TrackBack from your blog without deleting it entirely. To unpublish TrackBacks:
- In the TrackBacks listing table, select the TrackBack or TrackBacks you would like to unpublish by checking the box next to each of the desired TrackBacks. Published TrackBacks are identified by the green checkmark symbol.
- Click the “More actions” drop down menu located in the action bar above the TrackBacks Listing table and select “Unpublish TrackBack(s).” This automatically unpublishes the selected TrackBack(s) from your blog. Unpublished TrackBacks are identified by the yellow triangle symbol.
Deleting TrackBacks
Deleting TrackBacks will remove them from your blog and from your system. To delete TrackBacks:
- In the TrackBacks listing table, select the TrackBack or TrackBacks you would like to delete by checking the box next to each of the desired TrackBacks.
- Click the “Delete” button located in the action bar. The system will ask you to confirm your deletion; click OK to confirm that you wish to delete the selected TrackBack(s).
Marking TrackBacks as spam
Marking TrackBacks as spam will remove them from your blog and trigger an action for any spam reporting plugins that you have installed with Movable Type. To mark TrackBacks as spam:
- In the TrackBacks listing table, select the TrackBack or TrackBacks you would like to mark as spam by checking the box next to each of the desired TrackBacks.
- Click the “Spam” button located in the action bar. The system will immediately mark the TrackBack as spam and remove it from your blog.
Viewing and managing your spam TrackBacks
To view all of the TrackBacks that the system or you have marked as spam, locate the Quickfilters tool on the right-hand side of the Manage TrackBacks screen and click on “TrackBacks marked as spam.” From this view of the Manage TrackBacks screen you can act on TrackBacks like you can in the main Manage TrackBacks screen, but you you can also mark TrackBacks as “Not Spam” or “empty” your system of spam TrackBacks.
Marking TrackBacks as not spam. To mark a TrackBack or TrackBacks as not spam, select the TrackBacks by clicking on the checkbox(es) of your desired TrackBack(s) and click the “Not Spam” button in the action bar. This will remove the spam flag from the select TrackBacks and publish them to your blog.
Emptying spam TrackBacks. To remove all of your spam TrackBacks from your system, click the “Empty” button in the action bar. This does not require you to select TrackBacks and, after confirmation, removes all TrackBacks marked as spam from your system.
