Patch file for Firefox 16 users

By Takeshi Nick Osanai
Posted October 15, 2012.

Movable Type users working with Firefox browser version 16 or later cannot save selected categories and folders after checking checkboxes. This issue appears in the following areas of the Movable Type CMS:

  • Choosing categories in the entry editor
  • Choosing folders in page editor
  • Choosing folders on the uploading assets form

If you cannot choose categories and folders in above situation, please apply the appropriate patch file for your using version.

The patch includes these files:

  • mt-static/js/common/List.js
  • mt-static/js/mt_core_compact.js

Installation:

  • Donload and unzip the patch file
  • Upload List.js and mt_core_compact.js to each of the following directories.
    • /path/to/mt/mt-static/js/common/List.js
    • /path/to/mt/mt-static/js/mt_core_compact.js

If you have changed the location of the mt-static directory, please place the patch files in the directory that is appropriate for your installation.

Thanks! Not only for Firefox, for Opera too.

And… I know, “Opera is still unsupported browser”, but please don’t ignore this browser :) Opera 12.10 (currently in Beta) works fully fine with MT.

I’m still having problems in 4.38 with the Accept Comments and Trackbacks checkboxes on the edit entry screen.

Hello, Does the 4.38 patch work for Movable Type Pro version 4.23 ? Or am I forced to update Movable Type to 4.38 ?

Thanks for your answer.

I’m using Firefox 17.0.1. I cannot sign in in MT Native or Typepad to comment on my blog. I can comment anonymously, though. IE9 and Chrome both work fine. I can sign in to my dashboard and create entries with Firefox, though.

FWIW, I WAS able to sign in here. Is this not MT5.2.2? By the way, I didn’t have to use the captcha … because I signed in?

Copied the two files in the proper directory but nothing changed :-(

I’ve exactly the problem described: check the Category (or Categories), hit Publish (or Update, it’s the same) and there’s no Category at all.

Now I have to create new Categories, in order to have one set. But clearly it’s not a solution.

MOVABLETYPE 5.2 Many thanks

Whops.

I did a complete cache refresh and restarted Firefox and all works now.

Thanks!

Hey, I’m curious what exactly is the difference between 5.14 and Movable Type 5.2? I’m getting some weird errors updating between the two, I’m thinking of reverting back to the old versions?

I figured this had been incorporated into 5.2.3 already, I guess not? That would be a smart idea.

I had been having a little trouble saving selected categories and folders after checking checkboxes, this should help sort it out for me now though. Thanks for the patch.

Is anybody else having caching issues with 5.2? Trying to isolate if it’s a server thing or Movable Type.
