Using MS SQL Server 2012

In order to use Movable Type Advanced, you will need to have a database installed and set-up in accordance with procedures provided by Microsoft or the IT management department for your company. MTA will automatically create database tables for itself during installation.

Before installing MTA, please confirm the following database information and keep this information handy:

  • database name
  • database user name
  • password
  • database server host name (this can include localhost, the server name or the server IP address)
  • SQL Server text code (UTF-8 [recommended])
  • Port number (default is 1433)

If using the SQL Server with Windows Integrated Authentication (recommended), you will not need a user name and password to access the database. If using both Windows Integrated Authentication and SQL Server Authentication in a Mixed Authentication mode, you will need to set up a DBUser name and DBpassword.

You will also need to install the following CPAN module:

  • DBI (version 1.21 or higher)
  • DBD::ODBC

For instructions on how to set up the mt-config.cgi file after database creation, please refer to the appropriate page based on your authentication method.
