A friend purchased a url for me a few years ago and it is loaded with moveable type. It’s been awhile since I’ve visited the place, like years, and I want to start using it, but I cannot find how to login to start using it. Isn’t there a login area or hotspot to access a login script?

Login URLs can vary depending on your website host and server setup.
One easy way to find the login URL of a Movable Type site is to conduct a search through the search form. In a standard install, the resulting URL will end in “mt-search.cgi”. Change that bit to “mt.cgi”, and you should be presented with the login page.
There are exceptions; but that trick will typically work for an out-of-the-box installation.
