Refreshing your Blog's Templates from the System Defaults

Movable Type 4 ships with a set of default templates, and at any time you can refresh your entire blog's design to use that default template, or refresh an individual template to use the default for that template type. Learn more about the default templates that ship with Movable Type 4.

Refreshing all of the templates for an entire blog

  • To refresh all of the templates for an entire blog, switch to the System Overview area of Movable Type by choosing "System Overview" from the blog selection menu.

  • Then go to the Manage Blogs screen by visiting Manage > Blogs from the main menu.

  • Locate the blog you wish to refresh the templates for and select it by clicking on its checkbox.

  • From the "More actions..." drop down menu in the action bar, choose "Refresh Template(s)" and click the "Go" button.

  • Movable Type will display a list of the templates that the system has refreshed. Movable Type will also create a backup copy of all the templates you replace by refreshing your templates.

Note: You will need to publish your blog for your changes to be reflected on your site.

Refreshing one of the templates on an individual blog

  • To refresh one of the templates on your blog, go to the Blog Templates screen by choosing Design > Templates from the main menu.

  • Locate the template you wish to refresh and select it by clicking on its checkbox.

  • From the "More actions..." drop down menu in the action bar, choose "Refresh Template(s)" and click the "Go" button.

  • Movable Type will display a list of the templates that the system has refreshed. Movable Type will also create a backup copy of all the templates you replace by refreshing your templates.
